Vet prices in Woodside, NY

Every figure on this page is the real number for the common case, with the consultation included unless it says otherwise. Animals are not identical, so call with your animal's species, breed, age and weight and we will turn this into a written estimate for the animal actually in front of us.

Before the numbers

What a price on this page actually includes

Every price below is the real figure for the common case, including the consultation unless it says otherwise. Animals differ — a dental for a 4kg cat is not a dental for a 40kg dog, and a wound that needs two stitches is not one that needs twenty — so treat these as the honest middle rather than a headline. Call with your animal's species, breed, age and weight and we will give you a written estimate before you commit to anything.

  • The consultation, included in the figure, unless the item says otherwise.
  • The price for the common case, for an animal of typical size for that job.
  • A written, animal-specific estimate always takes precedence over this page.
  • Call with species, breed, age and weight for the real number for your animal.

If you would rather not think about it

Pay as you go, or spread routine care across the year

Most clients use pay as you go and never sign anything. The Wellness and Senior Plans spread a year of examinations, vaccination and prevention into one predictable monthly figure instead of four or five unpredictable ones.

Every tier keeps the same written estimate before any work, and the same right to ask what happens if you do nothing.

A fair question

Why two practices can quote different numbers for the same procedure

A spay at one practice and a spay at another are not always the same product, and the gap is rarely dishonesty on either side. It is usually one of four things, and you are entitled to ask about all of them before you compare two numbers.

  • Anaesthesia monitoring

A quote that includes a dedicated technician watching continuous ECG, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and temperature for the whole anaesthetic is pricing in a member of staff whose only job that hour is your animal. A quote that leaves it out may simply have left it off the page rather than off the table.

  • Dental radiographs

Roughly half of dental disease in a cat or dog sits below the gum line, invisible to a naked-eye look whether the animal is awake or already anaesthetised. A dental quoted without full-mouth x-rays is a shorter, cheaper procedure than one that includes them, and the two numbers are not describing the same job.

  • Whether bloods are included

Pre-anaesthetic blood work, run and read before a healthy-looking animal goes under, is sometimes bundled into a headline price and sometimes charged as an addition once you arrive. Ask which one you are looking at before you compare it with anything else.

  • Animal size

The anaesthetic drug, the surgical time and the monitoring for a 4kg cat are not the same as for a 40kg dog, so a single flat number for a spay or a dental across every size is already an approximation. Our prices for the larger procedures are given as a range for exactly this reason.

  • What happens if it takes longer than expected

A job that turns out more complicated once the animal is asleep is either priced as a range from the start, or it is stopped and you are called before anything past the original estimate happens. Neither of those is the same as a shop that simply adds the extra time to the bill afterwards.

Every veterinarian who sees your animal holds a current licence to practise in New York State, and there is a registered veterinary technician on the floor during every hour we are open. Anaesthesia is monitored continuously by a named technician whose only job for that hour is your animal. We are happy to talk you through how any of it works before you consent to anything — a practice that will not explain its own standards is telling you something.

This is general information, not veterinary advice. This page describes a service. It is general information and it is not veterinary advice, a diagnosis or a treatment plan for any particular animal, because no page can examine your pet. If your animal is unwell, injured or behaving unusually, speak to a licensed veterinarian who can actually see it. In an emergency contact your own veterinarian or a 24-hour emergency animal hospital immediately.

Questions

Pricing — the questions we are asked most

How much does a vet visit cost in Woodside, NY?

A full wellness examination is $75 and a same-day sick visit is $95, both including the consultation itself. A puppy or kitten's first visit is $60. Anything beyond the consultation — tests, imaging, dentistry, surgery — is quoted in writing before it happens, so you are never asked to agree to a procedure without a price already attached to it.

Is the consultation charged on top of everything else?

No. The figure shown for a consultation already includes the examination itself. Tests, imaging, dentistry and surgery are separate line items, each quoted in writing before we go ahead, so the consultation and every additional item sit on the same estimate rather than arriving as a surprise later.

Do you charge more for a larger dog?

For anything priced by weight, such as neutering, spaying and dentistry, yes, and the ranges on this page reflect that directly. Anaesthetic drug, surgical time and monitoring all scale with size, and pricing those jobs as one flat number regardless of size would mean smaller animals subsidising larger ones.

Will the final bill match the estimate I was given?

Yes, for anything we could see and plan for in advance. If we find something additional once a procedure is already underway, we stop and call you rather than carry on and add it to the bill — the only exception is where stopping itself would put the animal at risk.

Do you offer any way to spread the cost of routine care?

Our Wellness and Senior Plans spread a year of routine visits, vaccination and prevention into one monthly figure — see /wellness-plans.html for what each one includes and how the maths works out. For treatment costs rather than routine care, see /pet-insurance-and-payment.html, including what to do if a bill is larger than you can manage in one go.

Why is a dog dental priced as a range rather than a single figure?

Because a dental for a 6kg terrier and a dental for a 40kg mastiff are not the same procedure — the anaesthetic, the time and the monitoring all scale with weight, and the radiographs sometimes find extractions that were not visible on the awake assessment. See /pet-dental-care.html for exactly what a dental includes before any of that is decided.

Can I get a written estimate before I book anything?

Yes, and we would rather you asked for one than guessed. Call with your animal's species, breed, age and weight, describe what you have noticed, and we will give you a written figure before you commit to an appointment, let alone a procedure.

Do Wellness or Senior Plan members pay the prices on this page?

No. The prices here are the pay-as-you-go figures. A plan member gets the items included on their plan at no extra charge, plus a discount on the items that are not included — see /wellness-plans.html for exactly what that covers.
