Wellness plans in Woodside, NY

A wellness plan is not insurance, and we would rather say so on this page than let you assume it. It is a way of prepaying a year of preventive care in twelve equal amounts instead of four or five unpredictable ones, and it is entirely optional.

Three ways to pay

Pay as you go, or let a plan spread it for you

The default is pay as you go, and it is what most of our clients use. The Wellness Plan and the Senior Plan below exist for owners who would rather twelve small, predictable payments than four or five surprising ones.

Pay as you go

No feebook what you need

The default, and what most of our clients use. Book what you need, pay for what you get, nothing recurring and nothing to cancel.

  • A written estimate before anything is booked
  • Same-day slots held back every day
  • Free nail trim with any consultation
  • Free weight check with a technician, any time
  • Records transferred free, to anywhere, on request

Best for: One healthy adult animal, and no wish to be signed up to anything.

Senior Plan

$62a month, one animal

Everything in the Wellness Plan, on the shorter interval that older animals actually need, with the monitoring that finds kidney and thyroid disease before it shows.

  • Everything in the Wellness Plan
  • Four wellness examinations a year rather than two
  • Two senior blood panels a year, with urine and blood pressure
  • An annual mobility and pain assessment
  • A written quality-of-life review twice a year
  • 15% off dentistry, surgery and diagnostics
  • A direct line to your own veterinarian for questions between visits

Best for: A dog over seven or a cat over ten, where the value is in catching things early.

What a plan covers, and what it honestly does not

  • What it covers

Everything printed on the plan's card above — the examinations, the vaccinations, the parasite prevention, the annual bloodwork and the discount on other work — exactly as written, for as long as the plan stays active.

  • What it does not cover

An accident, an unexpected illness, a swallowed toy, a broken leg or an emergency surgery. Those are the events insurance exists for. A wellness plan prepays for the visits you can see coming, not the ones you cannot.

  • It is not insurance

Insurance pays out against the unpredictable, priced on risk, and it is sold by an insurer, not by us. A wellness plan is a fixed, predictable subscription to a fixed, predictable set of services, sold by the practice that will actually perform them. The two solve different problems, and most owners are better served by having both rather than treating one as a substitute for the other.

  • A discount, not free treatment

The 10 to 15 percent off dentistry, surgery and diagnostics is a discount on the bill, not free treatment. A large unexpected procedure on a plan still costs real money — a written estimate still comes first, it is simply a smaller number than it would otherwise have been.

An honest worked example

How the maths works out

Take an adult dog on the Wellness Plan, counting only what the plan actually includes and nothing more.

  • Two wellness examinations at $75 each: $150.
  • One core vaccination: $42.
  • Twelve months of parasite prevention from $18 a month: $216.
  • One in-house blood panel: $130.
  • Paid separately, that comes to about $538 across the year.
  • The plan itself costs $468 a year (12 payments of $39).

That is already roughly $70 ahead before counting the free nail trims, the free weight checks and the discount on anything else — and the gap widens further the moment your dog needs a dental or a procedure that a plan discount would have shaved a further 10 percent off. A cat, an indoor-only dog needing less parasite cover, or an animal that skips a vaccination this year will do this arithmetic differently. Call and we will run the actual numbers for your particular animal rather than the average one.

How to cancel

Call or message the desk and tell us to stop. There is no notice period and no cancellation fee — cover simply ends on your next billing date, and nothing you have already received is clawed back. If you have used more in services than you have paid in over the life of the plan, that is our risk to carry, not yours to make good.

Questions

Wellness plans — the questions we are asked most

Is a wellness plan the same as pet insurance?

No, and this is the single most important thing to understand before you sign up for one. A wellness plan prepays predictable, routine care in equal monthly amounts. Insurance pays out against the unpredictable — an accident, a sudden illness, an emergency surgery. See /pet-insurance-and-payment.html for how a claim actually works; the two are not interchangeable and a lot of owners benefit from having both.

What happens if I do not use every visit in a year?

Nothing is refunded for a visit you did not use, in the same way a gym membership does not refund an unused month — the plan prices a year of care as a whole, not a bank of credits to spend down. Most animals use most of what is included; if yours consistently does not, pay-as-you-go is probably the better fit for you and we will say so plainly.

Can I put more than one animal on a plan?

Yes, one plan per animal, and there is no discount for a second animal beyond what each plan already includes — the monthly price already assumes ordinary, routine use for one animal of that kind.

Is there a contract or a sign-up fee?

No contract beyond the plan itself, and no sign-up fee. You pay monthly, you can leave whenever you like, and the terms are exactly what is written on the plan card above.

Can I move from the Wellness Plan to the Senior Plan?

Yes, typically once your dog turns seven or your cat turns ten, or sooner if we think the earlier examination schedule would genuinely help. Ask at any visit or call the desk, and we will switch you from your next billing date.

Do plan members pay anything at the desk?

Only for anything not listed on the plan card, at the discounted rate where a discount applies. The examinations, vaccinations, parasite prevention and annual bloodwork that are actually included cost nothing further when you arrive.

Does the plan cover a procedure my animal needs right now?

No — a plan is prepaid routine care, not retroactive cover for something already happening today. If your animal needs treatment now, that is a normal written estimate and a normal invoice, with your plan discount applied if you are a member.

Which plan should I choose if I am not sure?

Pay as you go, if genuinely in doubt — it is what most of our clients use, and there is nothing to cancel later if it turns out not to suit you. Ask us at any visit and we will tell you honestly whether the maths of a plan would work out in your favour for your particular animal.

No pressure either way

Ask us to run the numbers for your animal

Tell us your animal's species, age and rough size and we will tell you honestly whether a plan would save you money this year, or whether pay as you go is the better fit.
